Aki Kikinomakaywin STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) Coordinator
Working alongside Community Elders I was able to create programming for Indigenous youth that combined traditional teachings and western science. This summer program for Indigenous youth from Sault Ste. Marie to Thunder Bay aimed to create strong partnerships with post-secondary institutions and increase the number of Ingenious students enrolled in STEAM modules.

VEX Robotics Teacher
By successfully completing VEX robotics design coding and training I was able to teach students how to build their own unique fully functioning robots. Through creating lesson plans that were fun and innovative students were able to collaborate and problem solve with one another in a safe and positive space.

Sault Ste. Marie Dance Unlimited Competitive Adult Dance Team
Through strong collaboration and dedication, I was honoured with the opportunity to bring home a Diamond Award for a dance studio who instills a passion for dance and the arts to all students.

All Together Now
Having the chance to be in the cast of this worldwide charitable musical aimed to promote funding for the arts and theatre after the pandemic helped foster my skills and learn professional new techniques.

Western University's Childhood and Social Institutions
My education extended far beyond the walls of a classroom. I was honoured to learn from powerful leaders such as Elly who was a World War Two survivor. Stories and first hand accounts such as this are learning opportunities I will strive to bring to my classroom.

Through this certificate program I was able to see the findings of my thesis truly come to life. From child ran parliaments to public Montessori schools this experience helped strength my knowledge and understanding of dynamic student-driven learning.

Following in the Right Footsteps- Childcare for All
Mario's Den was made in honour of my father and his work with the City of Sault Ste. Marie Daycare. His mission was to treat every child with kindness and respect. His values became the inspiration for my career in teaching.

Social Services Point in Time Homelessness Survey and Report
As the Point in Time Coordinator I was able to build an analytical report on the homelessness within Sault Ste Marie. Through over twenty connections Social Services made extensive strategies to improve community wide economic development.
